Transporting 14 Heavy Drums: Safe Delivery from Germany to Turkmenistan Without Delays

Task

The client needed to transport 14 drum halves intended for a mine skip hoist installation from Germany to Turkmenistan. Each unit weighed between 33 and 36 tonnes and featured non-standard dimensions. The primary challenge was ensuring safe transportation across multiple countries while meeting a strict delivery schedule required for a major industrial project.

Our Solution

To ensure the successful execution of the project, BGT Group developed a comprehensive multimodal transport solution.

We:

organised road transport from Germany to the rail terminal in Siemianówka, Poland, using specialist transport platforms;
carried out crane-assisted transshipment onto broad-gauge railway wagons for onward rail transport;
designed and obtained approval for customised cargo loading and securing plans in cooperation with Belarusian Railways;
manufactured bespoke wooden support structures for each drum to maximise stability and protect the cargo throughout the journey;
assumed full responsibility for transport documentation, route approvals, and 24/7 shipment monitoring.

The delivery was completed on schedule, ensuring the equipment arrived in line with the project's installation timeline.
100% cargo safety was achieved through customised securing systems and additional protective measures.
Comprehensive project coordination minimised operational risks and eliminated unnecessary downtime, allowing the client to focus on the industrial installation.
