Bulgaria: Tropical temperatures bans truck traffic on roads

track bans bulgaria

Due to the temperatures reaching above 35ºC, the Bulgarian Road Administration has announced special traffic restrictions for trucks weighing more than 20 tons. The new regulations are aimed at protecting road infrastructure and ensuring the safety of travelers in extremely high temperatures.

According to the road authority’s plans, the restrictions will be in effect on selected road sections in the afternoon from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Decisions on the restrictions will be made on the basis of weather forecasts and announced no later than 12:00 p.m. the day before.

It is worth noting that not all heavy vehicles will be affected by the temporary restrictions. Excluded are vehicles carrying perishable foodstuffs, cargo requiring temperature control, live animals and dangerous goods.

Drivers using Bulgarian roads should follow local traffic announcements and be aware of possible changes in traffic organization if restrictions are imposed. Such measures are aimed not only at protecting the road infrastructure, but more importantly, the safety of all road users in conditions of extreme heat.
