The Mont Blanc Tunnel, which has been open for more than 60 years, is in need of urgent maintenance work to ensure the safety of users and to enable the long-term use of this key element of infrastructure. The Mont Blanc Tunnel, which is one of the most important routes linking France and Italy, will be completely closed for a period of 15 weeks.
Complete closure of traffic:
- Monday, September 2 from 5:00 pm
- until Monday, December 16, at 5:00 pm
The decision has been made in order to carry out renovation work to restore two sections of the vault, each 300 meters long. The work, scheduled for 2024, is the first phase of a larger project planned to continue in 2025. Drivers using the tunnel should prepare for traffic disruptions and alternative travel routes between September and December 2024.
