As of March 11, 2025, updated toll rates are in effect for the concession section of the A2 highway between Nowy Tomyśl and Konin. These changes directly impact road transport costs.

New A2 Toll Rates

From 6:00 AM on March 11, 2025, new toll rates have been implemented for each of the three 50-kilometer sections of the A2 highway between Nowy Tomyśl and Konin. Here are the detailed rates:

    • Motorcycles: 18 PLN (1 PLN increase) – 50% discount maintained.
    • Passenger cars (up to 3.5 t): 36 PLN (2 PLN increase).
    • 2-axle vehicles (twin wheels) and 2-axle vehicles with trailers: 60 PLN (5 PLN increase).
    • 3-axle vehicles and 2-axle vehicles with twin wheels with trailers: 92 PLN (8 PLN increase).
    • 4+ axle vehicles and 3-axle vehicles with trailers: 138 PLN (11 PLN increase).
    • Non-standard vehicles: 360 PLN (no change).

Reasons for the Toll Increase

Autostrada Wielkopolska SA (AWSA), the concessionaire of the A2 section, justifies the toll increase with the following factors:

    • Increased costs of highway investment and maintenance.
    • High inflation and rising interest rates.
    • Highway expansion, including the construction of a third lane.
    • Rising operating costs, including financial obligations and increasing wages.
    • Videotolling on A2

In January 2025, a videotolling system was introduced on the Poznań – Konin section, facilitating toll payments. The system is planned to eventually cover the entire A2 section (Świecko – Konin), which involves further infrastructure investments. It is important to note that the videotolling system does not include motorcyclists.

Impact of Changes on the Transportation Industry

The A2 toll increase directly impacts the operating costs of transportation companies. Key aspects include:

    • Updating transport cost calculations.
    • Optimizing travel routes.
    • Analyzing alternative routes.
    • Monitoring changes and adjusting pricing strategies.
    • Summary.

The new A2 toll rates require flexibility and adaptation from transportation companies. Regular monitoring of changes, route optimization, and utilizing available technologies such as videotolling will minimize the impact of the increases on business profitability.
